2011 Fistball WCH congratulates Austrian indoor champions 2010In the women's matches Neusiedl overcame Zwettl and Grieskirchen beat Freistadt in two exciting semi-finals on Saturday. On arrival, every spectator was given a ticket for the "Give me Five" competition. Between the two qualifiers the Kremstal and Rohrbach High Performance Centres demonstrated their talents. As the teams were being announced the young fistballers presented the 2011 Fistball Championship banners for the first time to the general public. The plan is to display these banners at all Austrian and international fistball events from now on for advertising purposes. The finals, which were completely sold out, were held on Sunday. In the women's final the 500 spectators were treated to an outstanding performance by the title-winning team from Arnreit. Neusiedl didn't stand a chance against the Europa Cup winners from the Mühlviertel region who romped to a convincing 4-0 victory. Immediately after the game attacker Maggy Lindorfer had to dash off to the photo session with OC General Secretary Martin Weiss. The Star Talk feature with Maggy will be out soon. In the men's competition everyone was expecting a tough match between Grieskirchen and Kremsmünster. The game pitched Austria's two strongest attackers, Dietmar Weiss and Klemens Kronsteiner, against each other. All in all Austrian coach Winni Kronsteiner saw six members of the Austrian WCH squad and two Brazilians in action. The lead changed hands a number of times in a thrilling match. Kremsmünster, a venue for the intermediate round in 2011, turned up with a 100-strong crowd of fans who cheered their team to victory and the indoor title. Kremsmünster's LOC President Klaus Hübner Jr was among the overjoyed fans: "The stadium will reach fever pitch in 2011 with local hero Klemens Kronsteiner and possibly one or two other players from Kremsmünster." |
